Man United made Ireland bid

Sunday Mirror reports that Man Utd have tried to sign Man City favourite Stephen Ireland. The rumour sounds unlikely but has this week sirculated in Manchester.

Mark Hughes and his Man City looks as if they will be in with a chance to fight for trophies this season, and with Ireland snubbing a possible move to rivals Utd, things are going in the right direction.

Man Utd are still looking for one of two new players before the transfer windows closes, but Stephen Ireland will not move from Man City.
