YOU probably will have noticed Ozil if you watched the U-21's European Championship 2009. He was a key figure in the Germans team and their route to lifting the trophy. After those sparkling performances it is now clear why Werder Bremen were happy to see there superstar playmaker Diego leave the club. Because of this move, next season is going to be key to how the rest of Ozil's career develops. He is expected to immediately fill the shoes of Diego, and that is a big ask for a player who will only be turning 20 in October.

The German completed his move from Schalke in January of 2008, moving for just £3m. In just over a year of playing for Bremen he has caught the eye of managers around the footballing globe, and thought to have atleast tripled his value. As far as stats go Ozil scored three goals and provided 16 assists in 42 games for Bremen in the Bundesliga and UEFA Cup. The amount of assist show that he is a wonderful team player, whilst being able to free role brilliantly also.

The left footed, versatile playmaker is predominantly used as a central attacking midfielder but can also play deeper, as a supporting striker or as a left winger. For his country he is mainly used on the left wing, whereas his club prefer to play him in the 'Diego' role. Ozil has made 15 impressive appearences for the Germany U-21 side, whilst already gaining a cap for the senior squad.

In a few words our team of scouts would describe Ozil as a slick, agile player, with pace and skill which will take him a long way.
